It has been almost a month now since the ChatGPT App for iOS became available worldwide. Good news for Android users as the Android version is set to arrive at the end of July. You can already pre-order the app in the Google Play Store and it will be automatically installed on your phone once it becomes available. This official OpenAI app is free, syncs your chat history across devices, and offers you the latest model upgrades.
In the Google Play Store, there are at least 3 third-party chatbot apps with over 10 million downloads, so it was really necessary for OpenAI to step into this market segment with the official Android ChatGPT App. Among the competitors, the Bing app, which has had a chat function for a while, offers a wide range of functions; however, Google Bard can only be accessed through web browsers, but basically, you can open it through the Google Go application too.

Expected Functionalities
If the app comes with functions similar to iOS, you can expect the followings:
- auto-disabled haptic feedback on low battery
- Customizable default language for voice input
- Easy chat history management
- Well managed responses in Right-to-Left languages
- Individual messages can be dragged and dropped into other apps.
- Direct usage of phone voice assistant – like Siri in iOS
- Message share with others via shared links
